Tall Tales and Wedding Veils Playboys Jane Graves 9780446617871 Books

Jane Graves tends to recycle themes in her stories. Here she has the anal retentive h, the charming, carefree and careless H, the close family on one side, the estranged parent on the other. These are all themes she has used before but she manages to keep them fresh and entertaining. I was hesitant to go beyond the free sample because from the initial description it was hard to see how Tony could be a hero. A guy who is a player and prefers to hangout in a bar as his main form of entertainment, never looks beyond a woman's physical assets and seems clueless as to what it takes to be a business owner hardly seemed like hero material. But because I've enjoyed the author's other novels I stuck with this one. I'm so glad I did because Tony would have to be one of my favourite CR heros. Jane Graves skilfully evolves him from charming player to committed lover in a way which is completely believeable.

Jane Graves also excels in writing independent, no nonsense h's who may not fit society's standards of beauty but really shine as the sort of women I'd like to know. Heather fits the mold and is the perfect complement to Tony.

Tall Tales and Wedding Veils Playboys Jane Graves 9780446617871 Books Reviews

This is a wonderful love story with all the twists and turns to keep you on the edge until the end. Jane definitely has a way with words.
I liked this book. Since getting my kindle my reading habit is insatiable. This book definitely kept me entertained for the duration. It was fun and fast paced. The character development was detailed and relatable .
Jane Graves has not yet disappoint me - her stories are sweet and down to earth and the characters are truly likeable. This one is no difference. The book opens with one of the "oldest" scheme to get married in Vegas get drunk ). However, the way Ms. Graves spin the story on how Tony (a handsome womanizer) and Heather (a dependable CPA) stay together truly worth to savor ...
Its been a long time since I have read a fun book. This one satisfied. Heather and Tony are a bit cliched, but I thing romance readers like cliches, that's why we stay within the genre. Anyway, if you like to laugh while you read, you'll enjoy this book. There is a cast of secondary characters that are just perfect for the story. No one overshines the two main characters, no one is ridiculously unrealistic, except maybe the Bridesmaids 1-5. Tony and Heather help each other find missing parts of themselves that help make them more dimensional than the cliches they start out as. I thought about giving it 4 stars, but I try to reserve that for books I know I will read more than once, but I don't think this one will, but it is a good story.
I love this book!!! its such a good read. its the true definition of romantic comedy. Jane Graves is one amazing writer. This book is amazing I fell in love after the first chapter and it just kept getting better. Or maybe I'm just being bias cause i love her writing. Either way i would definitely recommend it. Definitely a 5 star book.

Happy Reading!! )
I picked up this book on a recommendation on plain heroines with a gorgeous hero and this book was just that.

Heather Montgomery is a supposedly larger than usual heroine at a size 12 but her size is never mentioned as being too much. While at a fitting for her cousin's wedding she's reminded again that she's doing all the wrong things in life. Heather's from that backwards thinking family that believes a woman HAS to be married with children. A career isn't necessary as long as she's barefoot and pregnant with a ring on it and a man sitting in a recliner. She's a almost 30, single and successful accountant but her mother is disappointed that she doesn't have a man and no children yet.

Her cousin getting married, Regina has the perfect life according to her mother. She's planning the biggest wedding and marrying a rich and successful guy. No matter that she barely finished college. She's getting MARRIED and that's all a woman needs in life according to this family. Regina and her mother Barbara, Heather's aunt do their best to belittle Heather for her single status at ever chance they get.

On a bachelorette party trip to Vegas, Heather runs into Tony McCaffery. A man she knows from her local bar back home in Plano. Little does she know that Tony's in Vegas trying to win the money to buy the bar. When his luck runs out and he tells Heather his plans she feels bad for him losing out on his dream and gives him a $10 chip she found as good luck to try to win the $20 grand he needs. Heather's $10 chip and Heather prove to be Tony's good luck and when she wins $20k in a slot machine she gives the money to Tony. As usual in Vegas, the two get drunk celebrating the win and end up married.

Of course while drunk, Heather drunk called her parents to tell them and her mother is over the MOON over her daughter finally becoming a REAL women and getting a man and MARRIED! Tony indebted to Heather agrees to fake they're marriage so she doesn't lose face in front of Regina and her aunt Barbara.

Naturally, through the course of the book they fall in love. Tony's not a bad hero and Heather's not a horrible heroine either but the secondary characters are what really drag this book and make it annoying. It would have been REALLY cute had they all be axed.

Overall, I thought this book was cute but I was very annoyed with Heather's meddling family especially her mother and they're "you're a loser of a women if you're not married by 30" mantra. That was a real drag on the book and just annoying enough to make you quit reading but I kept on.

I bought this book for $1.99 and for that price it wasn't bad at all but if this book is ever $5 or more I'd skip it because the 1950s homemaker views on marriage and family is always annoying.

When it's cheap it's a quick read and I'd get it, if it's pricy I'd skip it.
This book was well written, light but entertaining and the two main characters are very likable. It had some contrived romance elements but the author worked them into the story such a fun way that it encouraged you to read more just to see how she would resolve the issues. I have read Heartstrings and Diamond Rings (my favorite) and Black Ties and Lullabies by the same author and I love that she has humorous tone to her books which reminds me of the works of Jennifer Cruise. This book is an easy read and will be going on my shelf to be read again.
