This book is a thought-provoking meditation on the concept of prophecy, and the power that it has over all of us, regardless of faith or belief.I can see why this book was banned in the US for so long - there are lots of sexual references in the protagonist's psychological meanderings, which sit jarringly alongside the Christian theme of the book. There are also some alternate interpretations of biblical events that are certainly provocative, but any Christian with a theological approach should see the reason for Moorcock's plot choices. The book is certainly not anti-Christian, in my view.
I don't find Moorcock's Elric saga very appealing, but all of his other fiction is enthralling, Behold The Man is a great place to start!

Read this a long time ago and I enjoy it. I plan to read it again and keep in my book-shelve.
What can you say about this book? One of Moorcock's best, and most thoughtful. Such a great concept for a novel, too!
What an excellent idea and telling of this story. I don't want to give anything more away but I recommend this to everyone!
Outstanding.
This is a very cleaver story about a guy who goes back in time to find Jesus. His time capsule breaks (of course) so he can't return to present time. He has studied all about Jesus and knows Aramaic. He accidently recreates all the events that Jesus did (baptism by John, etc.), and then everyone thinks he is Jesus. You can guess what happens then. A great read!!
What a fascinating science fiction story. I read it straight through in about 2 hours, I could not put it aside. People who are interested in Historical Jesus studies will find it interesting and entertaining. It even has an interesting hypothesis about the Empty Tomb tradition which could very well be plausible.
A fascinating little book, a novella of less than 30,000 words. Split between religious argument with his girlfriend in the present and his journeys in 29 A.D., this little book take you a long, long way. Some may be offended. Others pleased. Discover it for yourself.
